The Decay of a System

This artwork is inspired by a local "mental hospital", exploring the systemic failures that affected both patients and staff. It is striking how a facility intended for healing ultimately became a source of harm.

The piece reflects the current state of the building—decaying, covered in graffiti, and deteriorating—symbolizing the broader collapse of the mental health system it once represented. Drawing from an interview with a nurse who spent two decades there, I incorporated her poignant reflections, describing the environment as "a hell on Earth", and incorporating her quotes. Through this work, I aim to convey the haunting reality of what transpired within those walls, serving as a powerful reminder of the past.
