I had the honour of painting this piano as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival.
The design features faces with flowers blooming from their heads, symbolising the diverse experiences of mental health. One side, in vibrant yellows, oranges, and reds, represents the acceptance and support found in confronting mental health struggles. The other, with muted blues, purples, and pinks, reflects the silence and stigma often faced.
I chose flowers like sunflowers, symbolising happiness, and chrysanthemums, representing depression, to remind those struggling that growth is still possible even in the harshest conditions. Each bloom conveys resilience and beauty, offering a message of hope and value to all who encounter it. If this piano sparks one conversation about mental health, whether it is your own or a friend or a loved one it has served its purpose!
