Memento Mori series

This series of paintings was created as part of a commissioned project, each piece representing a core symbol of the Memento Mori philosophy—a reminder of life’s fleeting nature. The series includes a human skull, an hourglass, and a flower, each image carefully chosen to symbolize mortality, the passage of time, and the delicate beauty of life. Through these works, I sought to capture the balance between life and death, using a minimalist, yet striking composition to provoke reflection on the inevitability of both. The use of bold contrasts and textures to emphasises the gravity of the subject matter while maintaining an aesthetic harmony between the symbolic elements. This series serves as a meditation on the transient nature of existence, encouraging viewers to contemplate the deeper meaning behind these timeless motifs
